Commercial Pilots trained at Plymouth

PFS (Plymouth Flying School) has just completed its 2009 flying training programme for the CPL (Commercial Pilots Licence) and has maintained its 100% first time pass record.

PFS already has an established Private Pilot training track record and we can now boast of reaching new heights. Our first full season of commercial flight training has been totally successful and Plymouth City Airport can also broadcast itself as an essential player in the CPL training marketplace, particularly in the South West.

The CPL flying training begins after a series of progressive steps which start with the student achieving the PPL (Private Pilot Licence) then building a sufficient level of flight experience and hours and finally obtaining a pass in all the written exams. Only then can the CPL flight training take place.

The training flights themselves start and land back at Plymouth City Airport but cover a large area of the southwest from deep Cornwall up to South Wales, and to the east as far as Frome or Bournemouth.

To pass the CPL flying skills test, students need to demonstrate perfect aircraft handling together with a comprehensive and in-depth understanding of a range of skills that include navigation, decision making, emergency procedures, meteorology, and air law.

The Commercial Pilots Licence is not quite the end of pilot learning, students then add ratings that give very specific training enabling them, for example, to instruct or fly an aircraft type such as a Boeing 747.

Plymouth Flying School offers a range of flying training courses together with aircraft hire and we try to offer our students and members the best service we possibly can.
