Cessna brakes
To apply and release the park brakes on the Cessna often require some strong pushing against the toe brakes which in turn means having to use the seat for leverage.
We have recently had to replace two seats where the seat frame and hinge for the squab and seat back had buckled. As we park on grass, the park brakes are not really necessary, the airplane will not move in anything other than the strongest wind.
Please use the park brakes at the pumps but for day to day operations on school grass do not use park brakes. If needed, we have a good supply of chocks including some barbie pink ones which should be in the back of each Cessna.
After the final flight we can use the tiedown chains and again we will not apply the park brakes
We should never rely on the park brakes - USE CHOCKS to safely secure the aircraft.
